Downtown Raleigh is full of great parks and green space for residents to enjoy. I have spent hours on the greenway and even more time at the many different city parks scattered around downtown. Residents looking for a great public tennis court in Raleigh, NC have a number of great options to choose from.

Pretty much all of the tennis courts in downtown Raleigh are hard courts. As far as we know there are not any public Har-Tru clay courts in Raleigh. This is a bummer but it makes sense as maintenance would be a expensive and difficult for the city to stay on top of. Here are some of the city parks with tennis courts in downtown Raleigh.

Fred Fletcher Park Tennis

One of the most popular city parks in downtown Raleigh is Fred Fletcher Park. Located between Glenwood Avenue and Saint Mary’s Street, Fred Fletcher park offers two hard tennis courts for residents to enjoy. Use the link below to get directions to the tennis courts at Fred Fletcher Park.

Jaycee Park Tennis

Another park located in downtown Raleigh is Jaycee Park. This park has two tennis courts as well as a number of beach volleyball courts. Jaycee Park is located just off of Wade Avenue and is close to the junction of Wade and Oberlin. This is one of the best options for Tennis courts near the Village District formerly known as Cameron Village.

Roberts Park Tennis

If you are looking for tennis courts in east Raleigh near New Bern Avenue, Roberts Park has you covered. There are two tennis courts at Roberts Park that are available for residents to enjoy a quick match after work. Roberts Park is located between downtown Raleigh and Raleigh Country Club.

Those who are looking for tennis courts near Enloe High School or St. Augustine University should check out Lions Park. There are eight tennis courts at Lions Park so there is plenty of room even on busy days. If all of the other tennis courts in downtown Raleigh are full you can likely find an open tennis court at Lions Park.

Public Tennis Courts in North Raleigh, NC

If you are looking for tennis courts in North Raleigh, you will be delighted to find out that there are tons of different options available. Some of the best tennis courts and tennis complexes in Raleigh are located north of 440. While you will find a number of tennis clubs that require you to pay to access the courts, there are also a great deal of free tennis courts in north Raleigh.

Much like downtown Raleigh, you will have a hard time finding clay tennis courts in North Raleigh. If you want to play on Har-Tru clay tennis courts in Raleigh you are going to have to look into joining a country club or a local racquet club. Here are some of the best public tennis complexes in north Raleigh.

Glen Eden Tennis Park

One of my personal favorite places to play tennis in Raleigh is Glen Eden Tennis Park. This free tennis complex is located just outside the 440 belt line and can be accessed from both Glen Eden Drive and Blue Ridge Road near Crabtree Valley Mall. There is a parking lot in the Marshall Park Apartment Complex that is sort of hidden but provides easy access to these awesome tennis courts.

East Gate Park Tennis

If you are looking for public tennis courts near North Hills in Raleigh, NC, East Gate park is your best bet. Players will find three hard tennis courts at East Gate Park. You will find East Gate Park off of Quail Hollow Drive between Six Forks and Wake Forest Road. While there are some private tennis courts at North Hills Club, you will need to be a member to have access to those.

Brentwood Park Tennis

Brentwood Park is another good option if you are looking for places to play tennis in Raleigh. Players will find two tennis courts at Brentwood Park that have a hard surface that is in great condition. I know a few people who play at these tennis courts after work every Thursday.
